Foundations of good on-site SEO
SEO is complicated, but these 11 basic pointers can help improve your on-site SEO.
Basic Dos and Don'ts of SEO
- DO create indexable content
- DO use words that people search for
- DO have clear hierarchy and text links
- DO use image alt tags that are descriptive and accurate
- DON'T hide text in images
- DON'T hide content in rich media (Flash, JS, Ajax)
- DON'T keyword stuff
- DO write unique, page relevant meta descriptions and titles
- DO use a keyword in both of these
- DO use clean, keyword rich URLs
- DO make sure robots are set to index and follow
Remember, Remember
Your website isn't built for search engine robots, it's built for people. Think about what your audience would like when putting content together, then think about how robots will index it.
